A summary of our training times can be found here.
Our sprints coach provides dynamic drills and expert coaching at Monday evening training. Training plans are tailored to meet the team's needs, generating strong results for both individual members and the wider club.
For throwing, we are enormously excited to be joined by Joshua Bain-Sinclair this year, a European bronze medallist in discus and a national record holder in both shot-put and discus. Joshua will be coaching throwing sessions each week, which promise to be hugely rewarding.
Our endurance sessions both on the track and on grass, planned by our XC Captains Kit and Freya, give our members the best preperation for BUCS and league races. Combined with dedicated training, our members consistently perform to the highest standards.
Our open track sessions are the perfect opportunity to train individually on the track and work through your own session. They run on Wednesday afternoons from 3-5 pm.
Circuits are held on Thursday evenings after social runs, and are designed to reduce injury risk by correcting muscle imbalances and improving muscle activation, as well as increasing the efficiency of running biomechanics; which most importantly results in improved running performance.
LMC Physio offers club members a 10% exclusive discount on Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy assessments and treatments. The discount has been added to their system, so members simply need to mention that they are a WUAXC member when making an appointment.
BUCS is the pinnacle of university sport competition. At WUAXC, we generally compete in three BUCS events a year: XC Championships, Indoor Championships, and Outdoor Championships. Anyone can compete in the XC Championships: there is a 'long course', for which a mens and womens team is selected by our captains, and a 'short course', which is open to everyone else. The indoor and outdoor championships have entry standards which need to be met to enter. For more information, see the BUCS website, or contact our captains.
We also compete in the Birmingham XC League during the XC season. These are open to everyone, and are excellent ways to get involved and race for the club. There are four races a season (weather dependent), which happen between November and March. More information can be found here.
Our wonderful social secs Archie and Chris host many a social event throughout the year, including the famous termly pub jogs. There are both sober and drinking socials on offer, all filled with healthy amounts of tomfoolery and general good times. Make sure to follow @wuaxcsocials on Instagram to keep up to date with the social calendar!
